COUNCIL COMMITTEES
Full Council meetings – Meet bi-monthly to receive reports from outside organisations, to ratify the recommendations and decisions taken by the Standing Committees, to resolve the annual precept levy and ensure the Town Council conduct its business in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Planning Advisory, Highways & Resilience Committee – Meet on a monthly basis and are constituted to consider and respond to the Planning Authority on behalf of the Council in respect of all planning matters that relate to the parish of Beaminster including planning applications, planning appeals, planning enforcement, public rights of way, public highways and public transport. The Committee is also responsible for ensuring the Town is best prepared in the event of a crisis and support the work of the resilience team to be able to action a response to an emergency situation and to work towards long-term resilience and climate change.
Finance and General Purposes Committee– Meet bi-monthly and are constituted to facilitate and improve the financial control and accountability for the Council’s financial procedures within relevant legislation, Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, banking arrangements, investments, maintain a system for internal audit, consider and determine financial estimates and budgets, allocation of grants and ensure adequate insurance arrangements are in place.
Town Amenities Committee – Meet bi-monthly and are constituted to oversee the Council’s recreational areas in addition to all other land and buildings within the Town Council ownership or control. The Committee also considers all annual rental, lease or licence agreement fees and maintains a system for Risk Management and Health & Safety for areas within its control.
Community Engagement Committee – Meet bi-monthly and are constituted to work together with, engage and support the community, businesses and visitors to the town, to organise and oversee regular town events, to be responsible for the administration and development of the Discover Beaminster website and the Council’s social medial presence.
CB3 Management Committee – Meet monthly and oversee the operation of the Community Bus CB3 that provides a Saturday bus service between Crewkerne and Bridport via Beaminster and neighbouring villages, a service operated entirely by volunteers.
